Hughes Top Sportsman Powerglide transmission

The Hughes Performance Top Sportsman Powerglide transmission is the premium choice for those racers looking for the ultimate in strength, reliability, and the round-to-round consistency necessary to get in the winner's circle. This transmission is available in standard length configuration for chassis applications and door cars, as well as with 1.69 and 1.80 first gear ratios. We rate this unit for use with applications producing up to 2,500 horsepower. You won't find inferior off-shore parts used in any of our custom build race Powerglide transmissions. This transmission features the following components:

~Billet ringless 30-spline input shaft
~Billet aluminum high output front pump with bolt-in heavy duty stator support
~Your choice of 1.69 or 1.80 billet planetary assembly
~27-spline output shaft
~Pro Mod drum with 10 clutches, 10 steels, and billet steel clutch hub
~Pro Mod extra wide high static band
~Pro Series fluid release transbrake with heavy duty rebuildable solenoid (fastest release in the industry)
-Deep cast aluminum pan (holds 2 extra quarts of fluid)
-Reid heavy duty extension housing with roller bearings

Each transmission is dyno tested to insure correct line pressure, shift function, and transbrake function. Unit cost is as follows:

Part number 28-3X-69B2D, 1.69 gear set, $5,145.00.

Part number 28-3X-80B2D, 1.80 gear set, $5,145.00.

We also offer these units in 2-piece case designs with bolt-on bellhousings for Ford, Chrysler, and Buick/Olds/Pontiac applications. This will eliminate the need for unnecessary and poorly fitting adapters.
